The Holodomor Genocide, which translates to "death by hunger" in Ukrainian, was a man-made famine orchestrated by Joseph Stalin's Soviet regime. The Ukrainian community in Colorado, in partnership with other organizations and supporters, believes that it is of utmost importance to commemorate this dark chapter in history.

In an increasingly interconnected world, it is our responsibility to ensure that the suffering of those who endured the Holodomor Genocide is not forgotten. By doing so, we can contribute to a more just and compassionate society, where the lessons of history guide us towards a brighter future.

The commemoration event will include the following elements:

  1. Remembering the Victims: The event will feature moments of reflection and remembrance to honor the millions of innocent lives lost during the Holodomor Genocide.

  2. Educational Displays: Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the historical context and significance of the Holodomor Genocide through educational displays and materials.

  3. Candlelight Vigil: A candlelight vigil will be held to symbolize unity and remembrance, with attendees lighting candles to pay their respects to the victims.

  4. Networking and Community Building: Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with fellow community members and organizations dedicated to preserving the memory of the Holodomor Genocide.

The Ukrainians of Colorado invite everyone to join in this important commemoration event.
