1,000 Warm Hugs from Colorado to Ukraine

The war in Ukraine has forced two-thirds of children in Ukraine to flee their homes since the war began in February of 2022. This conflict caused the fastest and largest displacement of people in Europe since World War II. The scale of the destruction and the impact of the attacks on civilian infrastructure, hospitals, and schools are simply staggering.

According to organization Save the Children, a child from Ukraine has become a refugee every single second of the war which is still ongoing at over six hundred days and counting.

Thankfully, millions of women and children were able to flee the war in Ukraine, but many were unable to do so. Countless children in Ukraine are now forced to live and to attend school in unheated bomb shelters, metro stations and in damaged buildings that were once their homes. Since civilian infrastructure is a common bombing target, several areas of Ukraine are without power and if they have power, it may only be available for a few hours each day due to rolling blackouts. Reportedly, even if a Ukrainian family has the money to purchase winter clothing for their children, there is little merchandise available in the stores to purchase. No child should experience the bitter cold of a Ukrainian winter without warm clothing.

We are working with Ukrainians of CO’s representatives of Northern Colorado, James Sherman and his wife Tetiana (a war refugee from Kyiv). They endeavor to collect 1,000 articles of new & gently used children’s winter clothing to donate to the children of Ukraine.

Working alongside Ukrainians of Colorado, we can deliver your generous donations of warm winter clothing (we like to think of them as warm hugs from Colorado) to the children of Ukraine. Cash donations are also welcomed and 100% of your donation made payable to Ukrainians of Colorado will be used to purchase thermal underwear, coats, hats, and gloves etc.

If interested in donating, please contact James and Tetiana at 1000warmhugscotoukraine(at)gmail.com.

May our entire world soon know peace! Thank you for Standing with Ukraine!
