The series is about the disastrous events of 1986 at Chernobyl, Ukraine, and the cleanup efforts that followed

Ukrainian television news presenter Olga Butko and American journalist Jordan Campbell document resistance, war crimes and genocide and chronicle Ukraine's quest for freedom and democracy.

The eight young Ukrainians, that are followed through the film, are vibrant, ambitious and full of wonder. They love their country, and they strive to energize and rebuild their communities. Each represents millions of children who have been subjected to violence yet refuse to be broken.
